DIY Christmas Stocking Decor

Love to decorate for the Holidays?

We grew tired of trying to find our old stockings that were all different, mismatched, and some even falling apart.

We searched online and all were on sale for at least $14.99 each which can be expensive for a family of 5 (including the dog)
We each made our own personalized stocking for this year for the bargain price of $1.30 each and had fun creating something of our own to hang on the mantle and fill with Christmas goodies.

5 or more Plain Stockings
Leaf Ribbon
Glitter Glue (Various Colors)
LED Battery Operated Lights (Optional)
Start by finding a nice area free of clutter to complete your craft.

Enlist the help of a few elves!
We purchased this leaf ribbon for a bargain at an online craft store.
Tie the leaf ribbon around
the handle of each stocking as pictured.
This makes it hold better on the
stocking mantle hooks.
We use three types of glue for this project.
Now start decorating.
Add a generous amount of plain glue to the leaves of the ribbon. If you spill a little it’s okay just wipe with a damp cloth as soon as possible.
Don’t worry about the mess, it’ll dry clear.
Repeat for each stocking.
You’ll want to write the names and art to the cuff of each stocking with the glitter glue.

Let dry for about 15-20 mins.
Add your leaf ribbon.
Let dry overnight before placing on the mantle.
The cutest is for both adult and kid hands to write the names.

Super Nice!
Kick it up a notch or two by adding inexpensive battery operated LED lights.

You can purchase them for a great deal in a pack of 10 or 12 for under $20 online, still less than buying your own personalized stockings and waiting for them to arrive in time for Christmas.
You can alter the pattern or create something different for each. They don’t have to be perfect. Just have fun with it and make it your own.
The possibilities are endless.

It’s so easy and inexpensive you can make new stockings every year and/ or give to guests that come stay for holidays.

Kids love this and will remember the fun time you had making something together as a family.

Happy Holiday Decorating!
